Long Story Short

I debated quite a bit with myself before caving and deciding to make a family blog.  What won me over was I think it's a great way to journal where we are as a family so I can look back and recall the memories better than if they were just left to my memory.  And let's be honest, with each pregnancy I lost quite a few brain cells!

So a quick update of the last 7 years...

After high school I moved to Orange County where I met my amazing husband Mike Thompson, we started dating and about 6 months later I moved back to Utah to finish my degree at the University of Utah.  He stayed in Orange County because he had a scholarship to the University of California Irvine.
.

We welcomed Noah Scott Thompson into the world on September 17th, 2004.  He has been a light in our lives each day since!  He makes me a better person and brings so much laughter into our home!

Three and a half years, many Jetblue flights and two degrees later we were married in Dana Point, California.  It was a true celebration!

One month after tying the knot, we packed up and moved to Menlo Park, California so that Mike could begin his Ph.D. program in Chemistry at Stanford University.  I started working as a personal trainer at a studio very close to our apartment and a year later left to start my own personal training business.  My family always joked that I should be a drill sergeant, but I like my job better because I get to tell people what to do but don't have to wear a military uniform.  But in all seriousness, I love my job!  It gives me great flexibility as a mom and I enjoy all of my clients.

In January of 2009, Lucy, our lovable pug dog joined our family.  Noah and the dog have a special relationship.  On June 30th, 2010, which happens to be my birthday, we made our second addition, Amelia Ray Thompson.  I feel so lucky to have both a girl and a boy.

Noah started kindergarten this fall, and he has really been enjoying it.  Mike and I were amazed that after two weeks of school he was already starting to read little books to us that he brought home The previous two years he was going to a preschool at Stanford, and three times a week Mike would bike Noah to school with Noah riding a small attachment bike.

I remember when we moved, it seemed like so far away until Mike completed his Ph.D but time has really flown and he will be graduating pretty soon!  Who knows where we'll be in a year but I know it will be fun as long as we have each other!
