Deux Rays is 5!

NOTE to those of you who are wondering about that nickname: Since Amelia was a baby, Mike would hold her and say, “Hi there, Baby Deux”…then it evolved into Deux Ray, since Amelia’s middle name is Ray (her Grandpa Thompson’s first name).

I remember when Mike, Noah and I sat impatiently waiting to go in for the sonogram that would reveal “the baby’s” gender.
All I remember is the technician saying, “I’m usually 95% correct, and my money is on a girl.”  My first stop on the way home was going and buying the girliest newborn shoes I could find (I figured she would love shoes the way I do).  Lucky me, she does…maybe more.
Amelia, since day one, has been an “A+”…only lovable.  She is a dream. I hope one day she reads this and knows how impressed her parents are with her sweet, loving spirit.
 “Amelia,
You have a heart made of gold.  I did not know what that meant until I saw the way you embraced Maxwell.  He is beyond lucky to have you as an older sister.  We are more than proud of who you are and who you will be. You are the most beautiful girl in the world, inside and out.
Love, Daddy”

I knew I wanted to have a big birthday party when she turned five, and I had so much fun planning it.  Yes, I am one of those moms who scopes Pinterest for weeks and goes way overboard.  Being that we share the same birthday, I figured my present to myself would be planning her birthday and having a lot of fun doing it.

Apart from having to reschedule the party multiple times due to the crazy weather we had, it was a lot much fun.  Originally, I planned to have it when both my mom and Mike’s mom were in town so I could have help the day of the party; however, since we had to cancel at the last minute, they weren’t able to come for the rescheduled date.  But, thanks to AMAZING friends, Kat and Rayna Nigro, I was able to get everything ready the morning of the party.  I would have been lost without them!

She is a true animal lover!

Those two are incredibly lucky to have Noah as a big brother.  He is one of a kind.
Max let us know quite emphatically that he plans to have ponies at his birthday. Sorry Elmo, move over.
