Reunion

We hadn’t seen my dad since last February -- right before he and my brother, Jared, left for Afghanistan.  It was wonderful to see my dad again, and they were happy to get to meet Maxwell.  It took Amelia about five minutes to warm up to my dad, but after that she was his little shadow!  I tried to sit down next to them once and Amelia said to me, “This is my papa, don’t talk to him!”

We didn’t venture far from our house much, but we were still able to pack a lot of fun in the four days they were here.  My mom and Noah painted a tea set she had bought him for Christmas.  Noah, Amelia, Mom and Dad all had a tea party that included root beer and vanilla wafers.  Tea parties are something my mom started with her grandchildren a while ago, and they all seem to love it!  Noah (on spring break) and my dad got some time together playing football, basketball, karate, guitar and even some video games.  The highlight of the visit for me was getting to dance the “Pretzel” with my dad, something we hadn’t done since my wedding.  I am so happy to have him home, and it was wonderful visit with them both!

One Month

I cannot believe Maxwell is one month old today!  He is such a joy, and I cannot imagine our life without him.  I made it through my first week when Mike went back to work last Monday, and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.  Although Amelia is definitely the hardest one to take care of, since she is in what has to be the height of the “terrible twos”!
Maxwell is now up to 9lbs 3oz, which is almost a three-pound weight gain.  Most nights he sleeps for three- or four-hour stretches and is only up for about 10 minutes before falling back to sleep after his tummy is full.  I am so thankful he’s a good sleeper; it’s made this whole transition to life as a stay-at-home mom with three kids much smoother than I was expecting.

Noah's school had their annual "Hoedown" and Amelia was in heaven with the pony rides and holding baby chicks!  She literally went back to hold the baby chicks seven or eight times.
